Stitching
The stitching process in textiles is a crucial step in transforming raw fabric into finished garments or products. It involves sewing different pieces of fabric together using various techniques, machines, and tools. Before stitching begins, the fabric is marked and cut into different pieces as per the design or pattern. This stage requires precision to ensure that the fabric pieces are aligned properly during stitching. The edges of the fabric are often finished to prevent fraying during the stitching process. This may involve techniques like over-locking, zig-zag stitching, or hemming. At Sial Nexus, we use different types of stitching techniques used in the textile industry depending on the purpose and the nature of the fabric:
- Lockstitch: This is the most common stitch made using a sewing machine. It creates a strong, straight stitch and is widely used for seams.
- Chain stitch: It is more flexible than a lockstitch and allows for some stretch. It’s used for areas that need more movement, like waistbands or seams in knit fabrics.
- Over lock Stitch: Used for finishing the edges of the fabric to prevent fraying, it’s commonly used in t-shirts and knitwear.
- Blind Hem Stitch: A nearly invisible stitch used for hemming skirts, trousers, and dresses.
Cover stitch: Commonly used for hems on knit fabrics, it provides a professional finish on stretch fabrics.
